Will You Test the Pool With the Pump On and Off?

Yes, when needed. Here is why both conditions matter.

We evaluate how the pool behaves with the system on and off when it is needed to understand the leak.

Pump Running

May reveal leaks on a pressure-side line, return line, fitting, or equipment connection.

Pump Off

May reveal leaks in the shell, skimmer, light, or suction side, where the leak shows at a static water level.

This is why guessing gets people in trouble. A pool is a system. The pump, valves, spa, plumbing, skimmer, lights, fittings, and water level all matter.

At LSL, we do not just look once and assume. We systematically change what is being evaluated so we can narrow down where the water is going. Sometimes that means pump on. Sometimes pump off. Sometimes it means isolating certain parts of the system or watching where the water level stops.

Once the target area is narrowed down, the rest of the leak detection process usually becomes much more accurate.
