A wet spot in the grass near a pool that does not dry out after a few dry days is a warning sign worth taking seriously.
Pool plumbing runs underground from the equipment pad to the pool and back. If a pressure-side or suction-side line develops a crack or joint failure, water can push up through the soil and create a wet area in the yard. The wet spot may not be directly above the break -- water travels underground and can surface several feet away from the actual leak.
Other Possible Causes
- Irrigation system leak near the pool area
- Drainage issue from the pool equipment pad
- Backwash discharge pooling in a low area
- Water feature overflow or spray reaching the grass
If you rule those out and the wet spot persists, especially if the pool is also losing water, an underground pool plumbing leak is a strong possibility.
What LSL Does
Leak and Subsurface Locators can pressure test the pool plumbing lines and use acoustic listening equipment and trace gas when needed to narrow down where an underground break is located. We locate the leak before anyone starts digging so the repair can be made in the right area.
