What a Full Evaluation Covers
Pool leak detection at LSL is a systematic evaluation of the entire pool system. What we use depends on what the pool is telling us - but here is what the evaluation typically involves:
Underwater inspection covers the pool shell, tile line, fittings, drains, lights, and spa area. Our proprietary dye testing method - developed specifically for finding the smallest and hardest leaks - is applied at all suspect areas. Pipe testing pressurizes accessible plumbing lines and water features where plugs can be installed. Acoustic listening with professional hydrophones and ground microphones is used to evaluate underground lines when symptoms point that way. Trace gas is available as a specialized backup when acoustic methods need confirmation.
We also look at the equipment pad - pump, filter, heater, valves, connections - and document any relevant conditions there.
At the end of the evaluation, you receive a written report with photos. The report explains what was confirmed, what was suspected, what was tested, what could not be tested, and what the recommended next step is.
The purpose is to evaluate the pool as a system and give you a clear, documented answer - not to check one thing and leave.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the evaluation take?
Most residential pool leak detection visits take 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on pool size, complexity, and what the evaluation reveals. Pools with attached spas, water features, or suspected underground plumbing issues may take longer. We do not cut the evaluation short to stay on schedule.
What if the pool has limited water clarity?
Water clarity affects the underwater portion of the evaluation. If the water is too cloudy for safe and accurate underwater work, we document that limitation and complete what can be evaluated above water. Clear water produces a more complete evaluation - if your pool is green or cloudy, clearing it before the visit is worth doing.
