Pipe Testing Is Part of the Evaluation
Pipe testing - pressurizing pool plumbing lines to check for breaks - is one of the core components of a professional pool leak detection evaluation. It is not a separate add-on service.
The evaluation covers the full systematic process: underwater structural inspection, dye testing at all fittings and suspect areas, pipe testing of all accessible plumbing lines and water features where test plugs can be installed, acoustic listening for underground breaks, and the written report of findings. All of that is included in the starting price.
LSL uses a custom-built pressure manifold - considered among the best in use in South Florida. Lines are tested from multiple positions, and multiple test runs are completed per line before a result is declared. A single reading is not enough. Consistent results across multiple runs are what confirm a finding.
Pipe testing covers pool plumbing lines and water features where test plugs can physically be installed. Sheer descent designs and some other water feature configurations cannot accept plugs and therefore cannot be pressure tested - that is noted as a limitation in the report.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is pipe testing the same as pressure testing?
Yes - we use the terms interchangeably. Pipe testing of pool plumbing lines involves pressurizing each accessible line and monitoring for pressure drop over multiple test runs. Both air and water are Florida code-compliant pressurization methods. The important distinction is whether a detector pressurizes at all - not which medium they use.
What if a line cannot be tested?
Lines that cannot be accessed or tested are documented in the written report as untested with an explanation of why. We do not skip lines without documenting them. An accurate report of what was tested and what was not is part of what you are paying for.
