Do not turn the pump off unless we ask you to.
Part of the leak detection process is observing how the pool behaves with the pump on and with the pump off. Some leaks only show themselves when the system is running. Other leaks are easier to understand when the pool is sitting still. If the pump is shut down too early, we may lose useful information.
What the Technician Will Do
When we arrive, we will turn the pump off and on as needed during the evaluation. We may also change valve positions, isolate parts of the system, or observe how the pool reacts under different conditions.
The pump, spa, valves, skimmer, returns, suction lines, cleaner lines, water features, and equipment all tell part of the story.
The One Exception
Safety comes first. If the pump is running dry, making a bad noise, leaking badly, smoking, sparking, or creating an unsafe condition -- shut it off and let us know before we arrive. Equipment safety always comes before the inspection.
