Underground Pipe Location Is Part of the Evaluation
Finding a leak in an underground pool pipe is a two-step process. The first step is confirming there is a break - done through pipe testing of the plumbing lines. The second step is locating exactly where the break is - done through acoustic listening with a ground microphone along the deck surface.
Both steps are included in the standard evaluation price. We do not charge separately for the location work on a residential pool once a break is confirmed.
When acoustic methods clearly identify the break location, that is the result - a marked area of the deck that your repair contractor can excavate with precision. When acoustic listening needs additional support, we have a full trace gas system available - one of the only companies in South Florida with this capability. Other leak detection companies in the region call us to use ours.
The only situations where additional pricing may apply are those involving genuinely unusual scope - such as tracking a very long commercial underground main that requires multiple technicians and extended time, or situations where accessing a line requires cutting into the pipe itself. In those cases, the additional scope is discussed with you before we proceed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is underground pipe location?
Acoustic location using a ground microphone narrows the break to a specific area of the deck. Multiple test runs per line confirm the location before we mark it. The goal is giving your repair contractor a precise mark they can trust - not a broad search area.
What if the underground pipe runs under the house or a structure?
Lines that run under structures present access challenges that may limit what acoustic listening can confirm from above. If a line runs through an area where surface access is not possible, we document that as a limitation in the report and discuss next steps with you.
