The Experience Behind LSL
Jeff David received his Florida pool contractor license in 2006. That means two decades of licensed experience working on pools - equipment, plumbing, systems, and the diagnostic skills that come from seeing thousands of pools in all conditions.
Leak and Subsurface Locators was established in 2018 as a dedicated pool leak detection company. The focus from the beginning has been detection, documentation, and clear communication - not general pool service with leak detection bolted on.
In that time, LSL has worked on residential pools across South Florida, real estate transactions with tight inspection timelines, HOA community pools requiring board-level documentation, hotel and commercial aquatic facilities, and difficult leak scenarios that required the full range of diagnostic tools and methods.
Jeff also teaches pool leak detection through Leak Business Academy and has served on the Florida Swimming Pool Association Palm Beach Chapter board. That involvement in the professional community reflects a commitment to the industry that goes beyond running service calls.
Sandra has been the operational and communication foundation of the business throughout. The combination of Jeff's technical experience and Sandra's operational discipline is what makes LSL work as a company.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does experience matter for pool leak detection?
Pool leak detection is a diagnostic skill that develops through repetition. Seeing thousands of pools - different construction types, different failure modes, different plumbing layouts, different conditions - is what builds the judgment to know where to look, what the evidence means, and when a finding is confirmed versus suspected. That judgment cannot be compressed into a short training course.
Is LSL experienced with older South Florida pools?
Yes. South Florida has a significant stock of older gunite pools with multiple eras of repair, updated equipment, previous patches, and construction methods that are no longer standard. Jeff's two decades in the Florida pool industry means LSL is familiar with the conditions these older pools present.
