In Florida, pool contractors may hold different types of licenses depending on where they work and what work they perform. Some have a county or local license that allows them to work only in that jurisdiction. A Florida certified contractor license is different because it is a statewide license.
Do not just take someone's word for it. A legitimate company should be willing to give you the license number and explain who holds the license, what type of license it is, and where that license allows them to work.
What to Ask Before Hiring
- What is your license number?
- What type of license is it -- local, county, or Florida certified?
- Where does that license allow you to work?
- Can you provide proof of insurance?
