No, cutting concrete is not part of a normal pool leak detection visit.
Leak detection is about finding and confirming where the water is going before anyone starts tearing things apart. At Leak and Subsurface Locators, we use inspection, dye testing, underwater evaluation, pressure testing, listening equipment, and trace gas when needed. The goal is to narrow down the leak without cutting the deck just to guess.
When Concrete Does Have to Be Opened
There are times when concrete, pavers, or decking may need to be opened, but that is usually part of the repair, not the detection. If there is a broken underground pipe under concrete, then the broken area usually has to be exposed so the pipe can be repaired properly. That may require cutting concrete, lifting pavers, digging, or opening the area above the break.
Why Detection Has to Come First
That is exactly why leak detection matters. You do not want someone cutting blindly. You want the leak narrowed down first so the repair can be planned in the right area.
We find and document the leak first. Then we explain whether the repair is within our scope or whether it should be handled by one of the trusted professionals we work with.
