Why the Whole System Matters
The equipment pad is an important part of a pool leak evaluation. Pump connections, filter valves, heater fittings, union connections, and the plumbing runs between equipment and pool are all potential leak sources. We look at the equipment pad as part of every evaluation.
But the equipment is only one part of the story.
If someone only looks at the pump and filter, they can miss a leak inside the pool - at a return fitting, a light niche, the skimmer throat, the main drain, or a shell crack. If someone only dives the pool interior, they can miss a plumbing break or an equipment connection failure above ground.
At LSL, we look at both. We inspect the pool interior, the equipment area, and the parts of the system that can be tested based on water level, access, water clarity, and safety conditions. The evaluation is structured to work through the pool as a complete system - not to check one area and assume the rest is fine.
That is the only way to give a fair, accurate answer about where the water is actually going.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if the leak turns out to be in the equipment area?
Equipment area leaks - pump seal failures, union connection leaks, filter valve failures, heater fitting issues - are documented in the report the same way as any other finding. The repair is then handled by the appropriate contractor, whether that is us or a recommended specialist.
Do you test the equipment pad plumbing?
Yes. The plumbing connections at the equipment pad are evaluated as part of the overall inspection. Visible leaks, wet areas around equipment, valve conditions, and connection points are all noted in the report.
