LEAK AND SUBSURFACE LOCATORS - CPC1457277 - PALM BEACH AND BROWARD

Quick Answer

Yes. Leak and Subsurface Locators inspects the pool and the underground plumbing when symptoms point that way. We evaluate the pool as a complete system first, then test plumbing lines when needed. Underground pipe breaks can be difficult to find because water travels through soil before surfacing - which is why testing matters more than digging based on a wet spot.

How We Approach Underground Plumbing

Not every leak is underground. Many pools lose water from the skimmer, a return fitting, a light, a drain, the spa, equipment connections, or a shell crack. We evaluate all of those areas as part of the systematic inspection.

When symptoms point to underground plumbing - pressure drop on a specific line, water loss that does not match any above-ground finding, or wet areas outside the pool perimeter - we test the plumbing lines specifically.

Pipe testing pressurizes each accessible line and monitors for pressure drop across multiple test runs. Multiple runs on each line are required before we declare a result. One reading is not enough. Consistent behavior across multiple tests is what confirms a plumbing problem.

When a break is confirmed, we use acoustic listening with a ground microphone along the deck surface to pinpoint the location. LSL also carries a full trace gas system - one of the only companies in South Florida with this capability. Other leak detection companies call us to use ours when they need it.

The goal is to give the customer and their repair contractor a specific, accurate location rather than an area to explore. Unnecessary excavation is expensive. Accurate location prevents it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if the underground plumbing runs under the pool deck?

Most residential pool plumbing runs under the deck between the pool and the equipment pad. Acoustic listening along the deck surface can identify the break location without cutting anything. We mark the location for the repair contractor so excavation is targeted rather than exploratory.

Can you always find an underground leak?

Acoustic and trace gas methods are highly effective for active breaks in pressurized lines. Some conditions - very low flow rate leaks, lines under certain slab types, or access limitations - can affect what can be confirmed. Limitations are documented in the written report.
