Yes. The skimmer is one of the most common sources of pool water loss and is always part of the LSL inspection.
Skimmer leaks can occur at several points.
- The throat where the skimmer meets the pool wall
- The skimmer body itself
- The pipe connection at the bottom of the skimmer
- Along the tile line where separation develops over time
During the underwater inspection, LSL checks the skimmer visually and with dye testing to see whether water is being pulled through any gap or crack. A proprietary dye technique is used to detect movement at even the smallest openings.
If the skimmer is confirmed as the leak source, a small epoxy patch may be applied when appropriate to slow or stop the leak and confirm the finding. More significant skimmer repairs are estimated and handled separately.
