Yes. Pool lights and light niches are a common source of pool water loss and are always part of the LSL inspection.
The light niche, the conduit that runs from the niche to the junction box, and the area around the niche in the bond beam can all allow water to escape. These areas can only be properly inspected from underwater -- which is why LSL dives every pool when conditions allow.
During the dive inspection, LSL uses dye testing around the light niche to check whether water is being pulled through any opening. The condition of the light gasket, the niche itself, and the conduit entry are all evaluated.
Safety note: the bonding wire at the light niche is also observed during the underwater inspection. A missing bonding wire is a safety concern that cannot be seen from the pool deck.
