Can You Test My Pool If the Water Is Too Low?

Sometimes, but low water limits the inspection. Here is what to do before we arrive.

Sometimes, but a pool that is too low can limit the inspection.

For a useful leak detection visit, the pool usually needs to be at normal operating level. That means the water should be high enough to test the skimmer, lights, fittings, tile line, returns, spa spillover if present, and other leak points.

If the water is below the skimmer, below the light, or below certain fittings, we cannot judge whether there are active leaks above the water level. We cannot test what is not underwater. In those situations, we may still inspect what we can, but we cannot offer the same full guarantee on areas that were above the water and could not be evaluated.

What to Do If the Water Is Low

The water level tells a story, so if the pool dropped and stopped at a certain point, take pictures before filling it. That can help us understand what happened.

If we arrive and the pool is too low, we may still be able to inspect some areas, check equipment, gather information, or test certain things. But the evaluation may be limited, and in some cases the pool may need to be filled before proper leak detection can be completed.

About Return Visits

A callback may have an extra charge if the pool was too low to complete the full inspection during the original visit. The best thing to do is call before the appointment and tell us where the water level is. We can tell you whether to fill it, leave it alone, or take photos first.
